Why Provision a VM for the Collector?
The UnityOne.AI Collector acts as a secure bridge between your internal environment and the UnityOne.AI platform. Deploying the collector within your own provisioned VM provides the following key benefits:
Data Privacy and Control: By hosting the collector in your environment, you maintain full control over what data is accessed and transmitted. Resource Assurance: A dedicated VM ensures the collector has the required CPU, memory, and storage to operate reliably without impacting other systems.
Minimal External Connectivity: Only the collector VM requires outbound internet access. All monitored systems remain fully internal, with no direct exposure to the internet. This architecture enables secure, scalable, and efficient monitoring tailored to your environment.

2.Please review the following mandatory configuration requirements and respond accordingly

I. Outbound traffic must be enabled from the Collector to Unity SaaS on ports 443 and 10051.

II. Inbound traffic must be allowed to the Collector on ports 22, 443, and 10051 from Unity SaaS.

III. The customer network/devices must allow the Collector to access the following ports for discovery and monitoring: UDP 161, TCP 10050, SSH, WMI, SNMP, REDFISH, CDP, LLDP, ICMP, Database ports and API ports (as required).

IV. A 1:1 NAT must be configured by the customer, between the Collector VM’s private IP and a public IP for Unity SaaS communication.

V. SSH access to the Collector VM must be provided to Unity Support on a temporary, need-only basis for configuration and performing updates.

VI. Read-only credentials must be added in UnityOne Credentials section in the platform (the credentials are secured and encrypted in the UnityOne Vault) for the following Advanced Discovery modules (as applicable): SSH, WinRM, SNMP v1/v2/v3, Windows AD.

We completely understand that setting up a VM image in your environment may not be feasible at this time. However, as this is a mandatory step, unfortunately, you wouldn't be eligible for the UnityOne free trial. If your situation changes in the future, we'd be happy to assist you with the setup.
